Lake Ontario: A Micro-Story
The boat bounced around in the water. “Drinks are on me,” said Captain J.T. “Of course, it’s your bar,” said Sandra, one of the guests. The boat was about a mile off the shore, near the Canadian border. This was the Great Lake Ontario. They had anchored themselves for the night. It was to be a time of socializing and fun. “I’ll have a Gin and Coke,” said Randy, another guest. The sky was clear and the forecast was good for the rest of the evening.
As the evening went on, Captain J.T. and many of the guests became drunk. They would have to stay overnight. ”I have some blankets and a few pillows. We’ll have to make do.” Captain J.T. went back to his quarters, and attempted to go to sleep. As drunk and tired as he was, he rolled around restlessly in his bunk. The other guests were equally uncomfortable, but managed to sleep none-the-less.
As the night went on, the lake became choppy, and there was a strange glow. When the passengers awoke, they did not recognize their surroundings. It was a strange twilight. The boat seemed to be moving, but not on the lake. Everything felt weird. All of a sudden, the passengers were jolted, as if the boat was ascending. They appeared to be still on the water, but yet, they were moving upward. They could feel it.
Then, a door appeared to open on what should have been the horizon. It was much closer than it should have been. Captain J.T. was the first to spot it. “Look there,” he said to the others. Just then, a little pale man with large eyes step through the door. He was holding a staff of some sort. He examined the group for a minute, and disappeared back into the door.
It was all J.T. could do to keep the passengers calm, especially Randy. As J.T. was speaking, Randy was attempting to get off the boat. Several passengers restrained him. “I know it’s crazy. But I believe we’ve been abducted by aliens. The best we can do is stay calm and see what they want.” Slowly, the twilight turned to darkness. There was nothing else to do but try to get some sleep.
“It’s funny how aliens look like we imagine them to,” thought J.T. as he was lying in bed. Something didn’t seem real about this whole thing. But then, how can being abducted by aliens seem real.
The next day the group found themselves sitting on a pond with grasses about it. There was a glass case of sorts all around them. A group of aliens were looking on at the group on the boat. “We are in an alien zoo,” said J.T.
“J.T., wake up!” It was Randy. “We have to get back to the club. We thought you would never wake up.” “I had the craziest dream,” said J.T.
